Introduction to the IELTS

The International English Language Testing System or IELTS is one of the top tests taken by students who are applying for higher education in Denmark. This is one of the most well known English language standardised tests in the world. This test has been taken over 1.7 million times already according to the IELTS website in 2014.

Background of the Test

It is managed by the British Council, IELTS Australia and the University of Cambridge English Language Assessment which was once known as Cambridge ESOL. This test is taken in over 130 countries right now in 2014.

Format of the IELTS Test

This test is accessible across international locations and it comprises 4 parts namely speaking, writing, listening and reading. Total test time is 2 hours and 45 minutes and the test has band scores. There are no pass or fail scores for the IELTS, and candidates are assessed in scores from 1 to 9 for each section of the test.

Eligibility for the IELTS Test

Denmark's universities and colleges accept IELTS scores as indication of English Language proficiency. All students who are applying for Danish college and university programmes following completion of high school education can appear for this test.

Application and Registration Plus Fees

IELTS has 48 dates which are fixed for the test each year. The dates can be found on its official website. Please note that the general training version of this test is only conducted on 24 dates.
